Do you find yourself daydreaming about being near the ocean? Can you envision the experience of standing beside the love of your life, surrounded by your closest family and friends, with nothing but the sound of vows being read and waves crashing nearby? Magical, isn’t it.

I could photograph elopements and intimate weddings with the ocean as a backdrop every single day and never grow tired of it. The wonderful thing about Vancouver Island is that there are hundreds of ocean inspired locations to choose from. From vast lengths of white sand beaches being washed by incredible waves speckled with surfers, to intimate bays with calmer waters and beaches covered in driftwood, to grassy gardens and pebble beaches where the water gently rolls into the shore below… The option is yours. How far are you willing to adventure? What is your heart drawn to? Don’t be afraid to travel the road less travelled.

Here are just a few places I recommend for your ocean elopement or intimate wedding. Each one handpicked for the romantic, free-spirited soul looking to get married near the water on Vancouver Island.

Check back as this list will constantly be growing as I continue to adventure in search of other Vancouver Island wedding venues perfect for the the romantic ocean lover, just like you.

Wickinnannish Beach

Pacific Rim National Park

One of the most stunning beaches on the west coast, it’s covered in driftwood and always has rugged waves rolling into the shore. The rocky boulders in the sand and out in the water add drama to the landscape, create whimsical coves and are covered in barnacles and sea life. This beach is a favourite sunset spot.

Beachside B&B

Ladysmith, BC

This Beachside B&B wedding in Ladysmith, BC was so incredibly lovely. It was my first time photographing at this particular venue but I fell in love. The views from the house and back patio were absolutely stunning as you can see, and it was perfect for the intimate wedding  Chelsea & Mike had planned.

Upon arrival, you will find yourself surrounded by tons of trees and even more flowers and perfectly manicured shrubs. The backdrops for photos are endless both on the property as well as down on the beach and in the bay. With little nautical accents here and there, it truly is a beautiful option for your ocean inspired summer wedding.
